Life and Villages |
Villages and their landmarks, late medieval village type: "bastide", early medieval village type: "Castelnaus"; both types have, in general, remained the way they where originally. |
They demonstrate a very rich architectural patrimony, wether as historical landmarks, i.e., cathedrals, castles, churches, abbays...etc..., or more modest ones, such as medieval houses and streets, water and wind mills, fountains, pigeon lofts, washhouses, old covered market places, chapels... Village life encompasses all kind of activities: market days, festivals and local festivities and feasts. |
